If you are not absolutely required to stay with Debian 10, you might want to consider upgrading to Debian Debian has a pretty long history of managing major release upgrades without reinstalling, but you should read the release notes first.

Pay special attention to the Chapters 4 and 5, or the upgrade procedure and things you need to be aware of in Debian 11, respectively.

Viewed times. One of them didn't have any alsa specs so they're now both fixed to what I believe you told me to do earlier and now alsa and pulse show up by pressing 7 in ncmpcpp. You have to explain why you have one in. Did you check the permissions? Do I really have to ask twice?

The exact command please. Since your configuration sets user to "mpd", have you double checked if that user has enough privileges, to all directories in the configuration? Edit: The point of having alsa and pulseaudio outputs was to see if both go through pusleaudio. I hope you at least tried disabling each of them at a time. Missed a word. Deleted the one in. I run mpd by typing 'mpd' after killing any old processes with 'pkill -9 mpd' and then I run 'ncmpcpp'.

It was my mistake with the user, I changed it from 'mpd' to my real user and it worked, I didn't even realize that's what it was. I would have next checked the permissions had it not worked. I realize I made a lot of really stupid mistakes, I'm really new at anything command-based and sometimes it's hard to understand how to go about doing everything and I mess up a lot. Thanks for spending a lot of time helping me fix the issue regardless. If there's some kind of Newbie Newbie Corner, I'd happily post there instead.

I didn't even realize that's what it was. It happens way too often that people skip questions. Take your time, reread posts, also your own and please refrain from hit-and-run tactics. If you understand how something works, next time it breaks, you will be able to solve it yourself and even better, help others.

You are welcome. Side note: For those who did not get my sic emphasis, OP created a file meant for roots home in OPs home directory, that is quite unusual. Atom topic feed. Arch Linux. How to disable a kernel module? How to disable a specific device driver? Resolution In order to prevent kernel modules loading during boot, the module name must be added to a configuration file for the "modprobe" utility.

Due to differences between the various versions of RHEL, be sure to follow the appropriate steps for your system's version below: The shared steps for RHEL 5, 6, 7, 8 followed by the specific steps for each version The steps for RHEL 4 Shared Initial Steps for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 6, 7 and 8 Kernel modules can be loaded directly, loaded as a dependency from another module, or during the boot process -- because of this, we need to take several measures to keep the module from being loaded.

If a running process uses the module, then terminate the process before unloading the module. If a second module uses the module we try to unload, then the second module needs to be unloaded first. Loading Modules The procedure for loading modules is available in the product documentation at: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 Managing, monitoring and updating the kernel: Chapter 3.
