We've got 2 of them, actually. One for me and one of the wife and kids computer. The mouse has improved just slightly since the original "wide base" design that emerged around late early I switched to it from the Logitech MX mouse so you know I'm a spoiled mouse user.
Not sure why it does it. Sometimes the "key up" signal from the keyboard doesn't make it to the receiver, so holding down the shift key to put one letter in caps ends up making the next chars depending on how fast you type in caps also. Minor annoyance, it doesn't happen very often maybe once or twice a day for me but it's still something I noticed. I agree about the right-click thing I'll check back with you - I'm curious to see if you encouner the 2 things I mentioned.
Jason Mauss. David Hanselman. Marty Thompson. Jason - funny I'm not sure I'm ready to check the box on the the "low signal" dialog to "never bother me again" but it's happened twice. The caps lock thing happened once. I figured it was me, so I hit CAPS lock, but that turned it on, so that means it was off earlier and the system thought that shift was held down.
How would we two guys who have this happen even start to compose bug reports back to Microsoft? Scott Hanselman. At least that I know of.. Jeff Atwood. Wm DanGilbert M. Useless scroll click and 'forward' click due to design. Mouse jumps around my wood desktop, laser really shouldn't. If I scroll fast and furious, it will work, otherwise I get no response. Overall Review: I would still recommend this desktop set to anyone looking for a comfortable, quiet wireless keyboard and mouse unless they are doing ALOT of work in Virtual PC or iTunes. Cons: Keys do not always register, if you type more than 70 wpm then you will notice this right off the bat with lapses in the spacing and other things, the keyboard seems to go into "Sleep mode" after a few seconds without typing and does not return from it for a while after typing.
If you hit two keys within a hundredth of a second as i often do of each other the first one often does not register. Wireless is horribly executed.
Therefore, it will not fare any better in a distnce test. Sorry to say. You get what you pay for, this keyboard is 40 bucks and i hope to throw it away very soon. Pros: Very comfortable, slim keyboard design, wireless range is very good for RF. Price was less than half of Best Buy. Cons: Mouse feels cheap, though comfortable.
Sideways scroll wheel is clumsy, but I never use it anyway. Overall Review: The first set I got was awful. Mouse didn't work at all, keyboard batteries died within 3 days. I contacted Microsoft and they sent me a brand new set, which work flawlessly. Didn't even have to send the old one back. Overall Review: Range seems to be about six to eight feet.
Keyboard seems to work from a little bit further away than the mouse does. Pros: Awesome price. Love that calculator button! Easy to install. Overall pretty snazzy! Cons: The 2 thumb buttons on the mouse is a li'l awkward to use. Mouse feels flimsy and light. Would have been perfect if mouse had a rechargeable station for the batteries. Not a con but batteries are not included 2 AA for the mouse and 2 AA for the keyboard.
It would not connect with the wireless receiver. Kinda sucked having to pay the return shipping charge and wait another 2 weeks for a replacement. The shipped product contains the 6. Funny thing, the replacement didn't contain any driver CD's nor manual, just the bare bone keyboard, mouse, and wireless USB wireless receiver where as the first one that came, though defective, had the manual and CD's in the box.
