All using the same authentication? Is the user on the laptop setup in the correct permission groups in AD? Does the share have the right permissions as well? If this is a domain then I wonder if you need to make some changes to it to support Windows 10 security, but the other thing is - is Windows 10 supported in a domain?

More in depth areas where my knowledge dwindles a little, sorry. I'm currently running a windows server r2 and my new laptops will not connect due to security is outdated on the server Is there any workarounds for this issue or do i need to upgrade my server to be compatible with the new versions of windows I have many other laptops with windows 10 that connect to the shared folders but they were not just bought in the last few months.
